The partnership between Hublot and Sang Bleu, the creative and design studio owned and run by Swiss tattoo artist Maxime Plescia-Büchi, is now in its seventh year. To mark the occasion, the two have joined forces to create three highly scratch-resistant Hublot Unico Big Bang Sang Bleu II replica watches featuring Plescia-Büchi's design.

Maxime Plescia-Büchi is a watch guy in addition to being an artist and designer. Seeing the tattooist's designs transposed onto a watch – yes on the dial, via an intricate handset, but also given a third dimension through the cases themselves – feels really distinctive and cool. These are watches that look like Hublots, sure, but if you've seen any of Plescia-Büchi's tattoo work then you can easily see that this is a pretty thoughtful and involved partnership. 

The indelibility of a tattoo is one of its central qualities, so I think there is a connection somehow between designs intended for a tattoo and a watch medium as immutable as a straight ceramic or Magic Gold. These are watches intended to look the way they do now for many years to come. 

The Unico Movement

By developing its own automatic chronograph movement, Hublot replica wanted it to be – like all of its creations – the first, different and unique. As the soul of the Hublot Big Bang watch replica, this movement with an “open heart” reveals its completely re-imagined design, with double coupling system and column-wheel from the dial side. Its construction of 330 components has been simplified as much as possible to improve reliability and robustness.

The Ceramic Materials

As such, the Manufacture has chosen to use high-tech ceramic for certain bezels and cases; it is an ultra-tough and almost entirely scratch-proof material (apart from the diamond) with a base of zirconium sintered at very high temperatures.
